We here at Magneto know that roses aren’t orange, but when Rose City Sound approached us to help with its rebranding, we couldn’t help but to think boldly for this 75-year-old production company.
Back in 1938, when WWII hadn’t yet started and Buzz Winkle was a mere gleam in his parents’ eyes–sound production was a new thing. Rose City Sound began its life renting and selling sound equipment and later moved into providing a range of event services. Its impressive client history includes the Jimmy Carter campaign, Tina Turner and Creedence Clearwater Revival, to name a few.
Logo
The new Rose City Sound logo provides a fresh take on expected “Rose City” reds and greens. The rose image is graphic and bright and doubles as an audio speaker in a modern orange hue. We nod to Rose City Sound’s history and location in the mark with a simple “Est. 1938/Portland.”
Magneto also produced a graphic standards guide to accompany the logo, offering vertical variations and incorporating different uses of the provided 6-tone palette. We identified the typefaces and their usage for web and print materials.
Sales collateral material
After finalizing the identity system, Magneto designed sales collateral material including letterhead, envelope and rubber stamp designs, thank you cards and an email signature footer. Together, the materials work to solidify the Rose City Sound’s new look and feel to strengthen the brand identity.
Website
The new Rose City Sound website is simple, informative and aesthetically pleasing. Magneto designed this simple brochure-type website with a basic sidebar to contain Rose City Sound’s main areas of expertise and contact information, incorporating the new logos and color themes.
It was also important for the new website to have mobile capabilities. The mobile site features the toolbar and contact information at the top of the page for easier access and navigation, and is consistent with the desktop site. Show me the site!
