Blazers Streak in to All-Star Break

Brandon Roy, double knee surgery? So what. Marcus Camby, knee surgery? Doesn’t matter. Oden pics on the interwebs? Old news. Without key players, coach-of-the-year candidate Nate McMillan has the Blazers playing the best basketball in the league. Despite the injuries to Roy, Oden and Camby the Blazers are tearing up the Association with a league leading 6-game winning streak heading into All-Star weekend.

Smile Timmy, you’re on a poster!

LaMarcus Aldridge has evolved from meek player to dominant force this season as he’s filled the go-to guy role vacated by the injured Roy. Although NBA experts said Aldridge didn’t deserve a spot on the All –Star team ahead of Love or Griffin, they failed to recognize how Aldridge compares to fading star Tim Duncan this season.

Aldridge                          Duncan

Pts: 22.3                              Pts: 13.4

Rebs: 8.9                            Rebs: 9.2

Ast: 1.2                                   Ast: 2

Although Duncan was once great his stats no longer support his spot on the team. Aldridge said not making the All-Star team didn’t bother him, but since the All-Star snub he has gone Hulk on the league. Aldridge has averaged 34 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists while leading the Blazers from 8th in the Western Conference to 5th.

With Utah fading, Memphis’ Rudy Gay out for a month and Denver about to trade Melo, don’t expect the Blazers to go down in the standings after the break. With a fresh Camby and Roy soon to join the ranks, the Blazers will continue to keep pace in the conference.

RIP CITY!
